Schools of optometry

I am switiching careers from an Early Childhood teacher to a perspective optometry major. I have read a lot about the career of an optometrist and its sound very interesting.

What I would like to know is what test do I need to take and what increases my chances of getting in to school of optometry? I have found only one college in New York, that is the State University of New York that offers this program. Do you know of any other colleges in the Northeast?

I'm no expert, but it appears that the answer is the OAT - Optometry Admission Test. It is hosted by an organization called the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry. They have a Frequently Asked Questions page that might be helpful.
