GRE prep books

I was wondering if you could recommend any GRE books (and any suggestions for avoiding particular books)? How much preparation do you think is needed in advance? Thanks for your help and advice!

It's hard to recommend books for folks, since we all learn so differently. Those differences account for one of the reasons that classes work better for most people than just books: whereas an instructor can change the pace of a class or explain things differently when questioned, a book cannot. Similarly, one set of books may work great for one person and very poorly for another, depending on both aptitude and proclivity.

My best advice is to go to an enormous bookstore where you can peruse the various titles directly. I always found the Princeton Review books fit my personality better than the others, but you may have an entirely different option.

So a personal visit and review is probably the best I can offer you. Sorry I can't be more definitive, but I do wish you the best of luck!
